17/1/2017 0 Comments Weight Loss MindsetIt’s that time of year when people are focused on achieving their goals and weight loss is one of the most popular new year’s goals. To achieve any goal, including weight loss, we need to work on our mindset. Losing weight can be stressful as we implement new ways of living. The mind can help us or hinder us, and it’s important to work with the mind and train it to help us.
Three things make up a weight loss mindset, or any mindset to achieve a goal – courage, compassion and connection. Losing weight means building the courage to do what we need to do to lose weight – eat healthy, exercise and manage stress. During the process of losing weight, we need to be compassionate with ourselves. It takes a lot of work to lose weight, we need to learn how to do new things and sometimes we can be very hard on ourselves when we haven’t lost all the weight in the first month, or even week. We become easily disheartened, and it takes both courage and compassion to keep going. Finally, we need connection to lose weight. We need to connect to family and friends and ask for their support on our journey. We need to connect with people who can help us, nutritional therapists, fitness instructors, and people who can help us manage stress.
