Mental Health Week 2016 takes place from the 9th-15th October to raise awareness that mental health is just as important as physical health. Minding the mind helps people cope with life and be happy and healthy!
The mind is designed to be busy. It uses the experiences of the past to plan for the future. Its job is to keep us safe and to help us progress in life.
I see so many people who feel overwhelmed by the busyness of their mind. Often the mind replays events from the recent or distant past. Or the mind focuses on planning the future.
People come to see me when they want to calm the mind so they can think straight. Worries about the past and future stop people from finding a path in the present. Imagine you’re trying to remember where you left something. Think of the frustration and irritability you experience. When you take a time-out with a cup of tea, that’s when you find what you were looking for.
It’s important to care for the mind by taking a time-out. This may mean connecting with a friend, going for a walk, exercising or practicing meditation. It’s important to care for the mind in a way that you love! The time-out suits one person, may not suit the another person.

Holistic therapies do not replace the need for medical attention. Holistic therapists do not diagnose medical problems or manipulate bones. Always tell me if you have a medical problem, even a minor one. There are certain situations in which caution should be taken when receiving massage and bodywork.
