Were you told as a child that you're too shy, or too sensitive? Usually with the tagline, "for you're own good". Do you say it to children now?
Last week, I read a book called Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Won't Stop Talking. It's by a woman called Susan Cain. I was first introduced to Susan when I watched her TED talk. It was a breath of fresh air watching that TED talk. Reading the book changed my life.
It's not often I make a statement like that about anything. As most introverts, I grew up being told I was too shy, too sensitive, that I needed to be more extroverted to get ahead. It wasn't parents or teachers. It was the world! Society favours extroverts. This makes it very difficult for introverts to feel secure, to feel wanted, and most importantly, to feel normal.
As I read the book, Quiet, I kept getting the feeling of, "I'm not crazy", there are other introverts out there who feel the same way. Who experience life the same way. Not only that, but we're needed! There would be no Harry Potter, no Microsoft, no Apple if wasn't for introverts. Albert Einstein and Mahatma Gandhi were introverts. Emma Watson and Courtney Cox are introverts.
The astonishing thing about introverts is that we make up a third to a half of the population. In order to achieve, many introverts become pseudo-extroverts. We learn to adapt to put ourselves, our skills and our talents out into the wider world to help people.
So, if you're an introvert, learn to appreicate your introversion as a gift, and read Quiet by Susan Cain to help you. If you're an extrovert, learn to appreicate the introverts around you, and read Quiet by Susan Cain to help you!
There is so much to tell you about introverts, and to understand the wonderful trait, you'll just need to read Quiet!
Lots of love from a proud introvert

Holistic therapies do not replace the need for medical attention. Holistic therapists do not diagnose medical problems or manipulate bones. Always tell me if you have a medical problem, even a minor one. There are certain situations in which caution should be taken when receiving massage and bodywork.
