Grief Reiki

Over the last couple of months, more people have been coming for a Reiki session to help with grief. Clients have experienced grief after a loved one passing away, after losing a job, or often women whose children are growing up and leaving home often need help coping with the change.

Grief happens when there's a change in circumstances. Sometimes those circumstances are unhappy, and sometimes they're happy, like a child leaving home. However, grief brings up feelings of loss, and people wonder, "What do I do now?"

That's where a Reiki session with me comes in. I work with clients to create a safe space for them to go on their own voyage of discovery. Starting with a chat and a consultation, they then lie on the massage plinth, snuggled under a warm blanket, while I work on directing healing energy into their physical, mental and emotional bodies. That is the space I create.

Clients allow themselves to receive the energy, and use that time to connect with themselves. Some people sleep, others just have time to themselves to figure out what they're going to do now. Often women have children or they're back to work quickly after the change that caused grief. They need someone to look after them, so they can look after their family. This might be an hour a week, an hour a month, or an hour every six months.

There's a myth out there that we are like Duracell bunnies, who can go on and on and on. We're not. When grief doesn't find an outlet to flow out of, it affects our health, our relationships, our lives.

Sometimes, we just need someone to witness our own grief. We just need someone to hold space for us while we grieve. Allow yourself to be cared for, allow yourself to be minded as you grieve.
