This week I’ve was reminded of the importance of closing the eyes for a few seconds and coming back to the breath. The breath is a wonderful way to calm ourselves down and tune into our heartspace. People usually laugh when I say this but if you’re at home or at work, the toilet is a great way to take 10-20 seconds and use the breath to come back to yourself.
What does it mean to come back to yourself? It means to find that calm, centred and grounded part of you. It means reconnecting with the part of you that’s already calm, despite outward appearances. It means to anchor and unite the stressed part of you with the calm part of you so you can relax, become calm and focused. We breath involuntarily. Without any effort, we inhale and exhale. When we bring the breath into conscious awareness and focus on slowing the breath down and taking slow, deep belly breaths, we breath voluntarily. We have the power to manage our breath to calm our body and mind down. Below you’ll find a wonderful breathing exercise to help you relax and unwind in the moment. Complete Breath Exercises
